Chicks!

We have two baby chicks now 2 weeks old sharing growing space with the seedlings.

The one on the left appears to be a buff orpington cross and the one on the right is a buff.
Don't know yet whether I have two roos or hens. For now, they're named Charles Dickens and Nathanial Hawthorne
(Charlotte and Natalie if we're lucky enough to have two hens).

Thanks to 15-year old Nicholas at Sugarmomma's Maple Farm in Northwood who hatched and sold us our new babies.
We have more baby chicks on the way - some Blue Laced Red Wyandottes!
Also we're trying our hand at hatching some fertilized eggs in an incubator in April.

March has been very busy - starting all kinds of seeds. Here are ammi (dill for cuts) seedlings just sprouted.

First (lonely) Bells of Ireland seedling.

Noami transplanting her kale seedlings to larger cell trays.
She's also built two cold frames  to sunbathe her seedlings under.

I've cut some forsythia branches to force in the sunny seedling room (formerly the dining room).
